A brand-new live music event series, 'Annie and the Jays present Local Live', is premiering at Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms on Saturday the 26th of April. The series is "run by artists, in support of artists", aiming to shine the spotlight on emerging artists and the grassroots music scene as a whole.

There can be no doubt that more support and attention is needed to be given to the grassroots music scene, with grassroots music venues closing at an alarming rate, taking away vital opportunities from emerging talents to hone their skills. Scottish five-piece Annie and the Jays are taking a leading step in fighting back against this issue, announcing a brand-new event series called 'Local Live', which will see them shine a spotlight on a number of exciting upcoming artists, in a night that will celebrate the excellence of music in its purest form. As well as running the event themselves, Annie and the Jays will also be performing on the night, in what is guaranteed to be a real "I was there" moment. Annie and the Jays have been fast gaining a reputation for their musical mastery on stage, and this event proves that they are just as committed to music as a whole off the stage.

However, despite presenting and performing at the event, this will not be all about Annie and the Jays, as they are also shining the spotlight on several other upcoming artists, in what will give an indoor festival-type feel to the night. A trio of artists will be completing the line-up as Annie and the Jays will be joined by Ben Lauder, The Urban, and Pink Cloud Season. Ben Lauder is a DIY musical genius who has been recording, producing and releasing some sensational genre-blending music over the last few years. The Urban are a punchy post-punk band hailing from Fife who channel the most intense raw energy into their sets, meaning concertgoers will be up moving and dancing from the get-go. The line-up is completed by alt-rockers Pink Cloud Season, who seamlessly switch between male and female vocals as they explore an expansive range of rock genres, putting on some truly memorable live shows.

On top of the incredible music on offer, this night will also act as a fundraiser, raising money for the charity 'Help Musicians', who do essential work in helping support independent musicians in a range of areas, but with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing. In their own words, "Help Musicians is a charity for professional musicians of all genres, both in work and in retirement. We help at times of crisis, but also at times of opportunity, giving people the support they need at the crucial stages that could make or break their career". I am sure you will agree this is an absolutely crucial cause to get behind, and is a real testament to Annie and the Jays for supporting such a vital organization.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for upcoming musicians to get their feet through doors and play to genuine audiences of music lovers, so nights like these are so special to hear about, and when they take it that next step further to support such a good cause in Help Musicians, it just gets even better. For the price of just a couple of coffees, you can attend a night where you are not only watching four incredible bands, but also hugely supporting their early career development whilst also supporting a great cause.
