A brand new weekend long concert series 'SMR' is debuting this May 23rd-25th at the Lamex Stadium in Stevenage, providing the town an opportunity to host some of the biggest names in music. The full line-up for this year's SMR 25 concerts has recently been announced, which will see Welsh rockers Skindred, sensational pop-artist Ella Henderson, and britpop icon Richard Ashcroft headline concerts across the weekend, being joined by supporting line-ups of major names and exciting upcomers. The events, being put on by KB Concerts, will see over 9000 music lovers fill up Stevenage Town's Lamex Stadium, in a first of it's kind event.

Skindred, who are widely regarded as one of the best live acts of this century, will headline the Friday night, following a massive couple of years which saw  the four-piece get their highest charting album so far in 2023 before play their biggest ever headline show last year. They will joined by a sensational support line-up, including one of the country's most exciting duos Bob Vylan, who bring energy like no other to the stage.  The support line-up is completed by the unstoppable musical force that is Those Damn Crows, and alt-rock 'moshers' SNAYX.

After a rock-driven Friday night, SMR25 will take a more pop-centric approach for the Saturday night, being headlined by one of the biggest names in British pop music, Ella Henderson, who has written and sang some of modern pop's most recognisable songs. Henderson has already confirmed that a third studio album will be released this year, so SMR 25 will not only provide the chance to hear the hits you love, but may also give an opportunity to hear new music before anyone else. Henderson will be joined on the night by the vocal powerhouse that is JP Cooper, dynamic DJ Sigala, and arguably most excitingly, local artist Eirra. This is the perfect opportunity to see the present and future of pop, all whilst enjoying (hopefully) the pre-summer sun!

The weekend will then be closed out by one of the most iconic names, not only in Britpop, but British music as a whole, Richard Ashcroft. Richard is a name on many people's tongues this year, as alongside his own incredible solo shows he will also be supporting Oasis on their huge UK + European tour. SMR 25 provides concertgoers the perfect opportunity to see Ashcroft before these dates, whilst witnessing some of the greatest songs ever written. Ashcroft will be joined by indie legends The Zutons, who themselves are undergoing some what of a resurgence, as well as timeless post-punk quartet The Futureheads, and genre-blending band Optimist.

With so many amazing concerts and festivals this summer it can be difficult to know which to go to, but with a line-up this good, surely SMR 25 will be on many people's must-go list. However the excellence of SMR 25 goes far beyond the music on stage, as the concert series' ethos is just as good behind the scenes too. The event is going to be an economically responsible one by being 'single-use plastic free', and will also be supporting one of the most important musical charities, The Music Venue Trust, through the concerts too.
