Songs of the Week - 02/02/2026

These are the essential tracks you need to check out this week!

Only The Poets - 'Monumental'

After a huge 2025, Only The Poets have stepped into 2026 with the release of their long-awaited album 'And I'd Do It Again', featuring this stellar standout track ‘Monumental’. The song is Only The Poets at their best, pairing infectious instrumentals with affirming lyrics in a way that sticks on your mind long after the track finishes.

Arcane Roots - 'A Wave, Across The Sea'

Arcane Roots have returned with their first new music for eight years, and are sounding better than ever. Their comeback track ‘A Wave, Across The Sea’ stretches across shifting moods and textures, moving from tension to release with a conviction that only Arcane Roots can deliver. It is nothing short of an epic.

Grace Calver - 'twenty-six days'

Grace Calver builds upon her sensational 2025 with the release of ‘twenty-six days’. The new release turns a brief, messy almost-relationship into an energetic indie-fuelled anthem. Grace continues to prove why she is one of the most relatable songwriters anywhere right now, capturing the highs and lows of relationships in such an irresistible way.

Attic Girl - 'Nothing Is Quite as It Seems'

The story of Attic Girl has fully begun with debut release, ‘Nothing Is Quite As It Seems’, the opening scene to what will undoubtedly be one of 2026's most compelling musical stories. Attic Girl sets a mood that pulls you in slowly, pairing shadowy textures with a sense of unease that grips from the first note. The crossover between musicality and theatrics is always exciting ground, but I am not sure that I have seen an artist delve into this space with such conviction as Attic Girl.

Flo Gallop - 'noughties kid'

Flo Gallop sounds like she’s taken a trip through a time machine and come back with one of the catchiest songs of the year. ‘noughties kid’ taps into the nostalgia of growing up in the early 2000s, wrapping it in a sound that feels unmistakably retro while still landing with a fresh, modern edge.

Lucky Iris - 'fall in love with the dj'

Lucky Iris tap straight into the euphoria of losing yourself in sound on ‘fall in love with a dj’. The track pulses with warmth and movement, perfectly capturing that moment on a night out where music becomes connection rather than background noise. It is one of many highlight's on the duo's new mixtape of the same name.

Lydia Reddy - 'Stronger Together (We Are A World)'

Lydia Reddy continues her genre-diverse solo journey with the release of her debut EP ‘Stronger Together’, anchored by this powerful title track. ‘Stronger Together (We Are A World)’ sees Lydia aim big and succeed, delivering a song rooted in optimism with a vibrant message of unity that builds and expands throughout.

Liv Bloore - 'Sing For Me'

Liv Bloore’s sophomore release ‘Sing For Me’ is haunting in its quiet, serene beauty. The track explores themes of control, fear and devotion through an atmospheric soundscape that allows her vocals to fully command attention. If debut single ‘The Darling Song’ marked Liv’s arrival, ‘Sing For Me’ is the moment where her artistic vision comes sharply into focus, offering a clear sense of just how compelling her work is already becoming.

WREX - 'Consume'

WREX channel frustration and isolation in 'Consume', a track that hits hard and refuses to ease up. It is a fierce return from a band who look set to take 2026 by storm with urgent vocals and sharp instrumentals that you cannot help but move to. If WREX continue with releases like this, they will quickly become one of the country's must-see acts.

Taylor D - 'Survive'

Taylor D continues her rise in the pop-rock scene with ‘Survive’, a track that captures the fallout of a damaging love. Balancing vulnerability with strength, Taylor builds toward a chorus that feels as cathartic to her as it will surely be for listeners. It is the sound of someone taking their power back out loud.

Ugly Jumper - 'Penny Pot'

Last week saw Ugly Jumper release their new EP ‘Everything Is Not Alright!’, featuring standout track ‘Penny Pot’. The song lands with a raw emotional honesty, building and expanding into an eventual wall of sound that mirrors the emotional release. However, all four tracks on 'Everything Is Not Alright!' are truly special so definitely check them all out.

DEAD CHANNELS - 'Black Heart'

This week’s Songs of the Week round out with ‘Black Heart’, the debut single from newcomers DEAD CHANNELS. Rising from the ashes of previous SBTM favourites ADMISSIONS, the band arrive with confidence, delivering heavy rock that carries real weight and intent. ‘Black Heart’ makes it clear that DEAD CHANNELS know exactly who they are, with a sound that feels confident and fully formed from the outset.
