Erin LeCount - 'Silver Spoon'

This week's Songs of the Week are led by pop music's next breakout superstar Erin LeCount. Her newest track 'Silver Spoon' is nothing short of a masterpiece. It pairs truly poignant lyrical work with ethereal vocals to create an early contender for song of the year. The whole piece is made even more impressive given Erin has written, sung, and produced the entire track. 2025 is destined to be the year of Erin LeCount.

Nxdia - 'Boy Clothes'

Nxdia's brand new single 'Boy Clothes' continues a streak of sensational releases which has led to them rightly being considered one of the countries most exciting stars. The track is a giant middle finger to anyone who tries to control how you live your life, being delivered in the fieriest of ways. The new song is Nxdia's first of the year, following a huge 2024 which saw them nominated for SBTM Solo Artist of the Year.

Sunflower Bean - 'Champagne Taste'

The end of January saw New York-based trio Sunflower Bean release their sensational new single 'Champagne Taste'. The huge guitar-driven track is the group's first single to be taken from of upcoming fourth album, 'Moral Primetime' which is out April 25th.
2025 is set to be a massive year for Sunflower Bean, as before the album releases they will be supporting Cage the Elephant on their UK and European Tour.

Mira Taylor - 'Not Here - Acoustic Version'

Mira Taylor is one of the most exciting artists to have graced the pop scene over the last few years, with new release 'Not Here - Acoustic Version' continuing this upwards trajectory. Mira's lyrical work is comparable to the greatest of poets, delivering these powerful words in the most emotive of ways. This is Mira's most open and vulnerable release to date, and it makes for such a poignant piece.

Emily Alice - 'Please Stay'

Emily Alice is no stranger to my Songs of the Week campaign, with multiple entries already in the last few years, but when her music continues to be this good it cannot be ignored. Newest single 'Please Stay' continues this streak of songwriting mastery, as Emily captures perfectly that feeling of longing for someone you love, even after spending day after day with them. With Valentine's Day coming up, this is the perfect listen.

Idele - 'Slow Down'

R&B artist Idele has just dropped her second single of the year 'Slow Down'. The track is one of Idele's most soul-inspired to date, allowing her stunning vocals to really take centre stage. It's no wonder why the track is already receiving positive reviews from huge names such as Timbaland!

The Castros - '50 Pence'

After a mammoth 2024 which saw The Castros release three singles and play their biggest shows to date, they are back again with their maiden release of 2025. New track '50 Pence' tells a story that is all too relatable for many people; being infatuated by your partner whilst dealing with the chaos of the family around them. The song is yet another hard-hitting release from the Scottish 5 piece, and with the tease of new live dates and festival announcements coming soon, this is the perfect time to get on board with The Castros

Amelie - 'Valentine'

Valentine's Day just got a whole lot rockier through Amelie's newest track 'Valentine'. The track combines heavy rhythmic elements with catchy lyrics to create a memorable song that will stay stuck in your head. The real driving force behind the song's brilliance is Amelie's vocals, which are becoming increasingly powerful with every release.

Faraway - 'I'm Yours, You're Mine'

The powerful new release from Faraway 'I'm Yours, You're Mine' transports listeners into a masquerade of musical excellence. The track has sonic influences deep routed in a baroque-pop style, à la The Last Dinner Party, however this is no copy. Faraway are stamping their own unique print on the genre which will undoubtedly see them captivating the biggest of audiences in no time

Ugly Jumper - 'Spit'

Genre-blending four-piece Ugly Jumper dropped their stellar new track 'Spit' last week, and it has not left my mind since. It is a song which feels like it has been transported from the 90's, with sonic influences coming just as much from the Britpop era as the post-grunge/emo era. Yet the track is also extremely fresh sounding, channelling the energy of a talented band ready to leave their mark on the industry
