Songs of the Week - 24/07/2026
These are the essential tracks you need to check out this week!
Lexie Liu w/ Yves - 'POP GIRL'
Lexie Liu teams up with K-pop artist Yves for 'Pop Girl (with Yves)', the lead track from her two track project 'Pop Girls Club'. It is a brilliant celebration of everything pop femininity can be when you allow it to be as expansive as possible. The two artists bring completely different worlds to the same song and the result is a genuinely exciting piece of genre-blending music that you cannot help but move to.

Kat Penkin - 'Strava'
Kat Penkin continues what may musically be the best year I have seen from an independent artist with 'Strava'. Built around the brilliantly tongue-in-cheek lyrics of an ex blocking her on everything except Strava, it has grown into something far bigger than its origin story. It is now soundtracking a movement of people striving for their own goals and living life on their own terms, partiucarly amongst runners. Outside of everything surrounding it, the song itself is just brilliant, another absolute banger from Kat.
Naya Yeira - 'raffle ticket'
Naya Yeira follows up previous Song of the Week ‘twenty9’ with ‘raffle ticket’, an alt‑R&B track built around stunning vocals and a steady sense of forward motion. The song features some of Naya's best lyrical work to date, tackling the feeling of trying for something that feels uncertain whilst dealing with self-doubt, whether that’s love, success or the next step in your creative life. It is yet another step forward from an artist who is still managing to get stronger with every release.

Dalia - 'Through generations'
Dalia returns with 'Through generations', one of the most courageously personal songs you will hear this week. Written about growing up in a troubled home and the fear of repeating inherited patterns, it begins in quiet stillness before expanding into something cathartic and powerful. It is the kind of track that will mean so much to so many, delivered in the most musically brilliant way.
Hollie Gautiér - 'GIVE IT UP'
Hollie Gautier is back with 'Give It Up', a drum and bass driven dance-pop track about dropping your pride and ego for the person you love. In true Hollie fashion, the track is both bubbly and witty, built around a summery bass drop that needs to be brought to festival fields. Hollie Gautier continues to prove she can turn any feeling into a floor-filler and deserves the biggest of platforms to do so.

Simon Clothier - 'What Am I To Do'
Simon Clothier releases ‘What Am I To Do’, one of the most moving songs I’ve heard in a long time. Written in the days after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and finally recorded once she had made a full recovery, it offers an emotional look at the fear and devotion that come with trying to be strong for someone you love when you’re terrified yourself. It’s a quietly devastating listen with a story behind it that makes it even more powerful. The song is being released in support of Worldwide Cancer Research, who you can find more about and donate to below.
Stella Lain - 'All Dolled Up'
Stella Lain kicks off her upcoming five part EP 'The Meaning Of Love' with 'All Dolled Up', and what a way to open. A joyful country-pop celebration of self-love and the confidence that comes from stepping into the spotlight and feeling completely yourself, it radiates a message of self-empowerment that is so important. This is a brilliant first chapter to what will undoubtedly be a must-listen EP.

Melissa Tastimur - 'Three Words'
Melissa Tastimur releases ‘Three Words’, a pop ballad that began as a straight love song and shifted into something far more cutting once the relationship ended. The string‑led production sets up a perfect backdrop for Melissa's powerful vocals to shine, turning the original sentiment on its head. It’s a pointed piece of songwriting that manages to deliver a breakup message in a really unique and enjoyable way.
