2026 has been an incredible year for singer-songwriter Pixie McCann, from the release of debut EP 'Indigo, Vibrant' to a completely sold out debut UK headline tour, she has more than cemented herself as one of the most compelling new artists around.
Now, hot on the heels of the tour, Pixie has returned with brilliant new single It’s Pixie, a more explosive side to her sound that still carries everything that makes her so special. With a huge run of dates supporting Paris Paloma across the UK and Europe still to come, the best may still be ahead for McCann
I caught up with Pixie to hear more about the year, the new single and what comes next, before discovering the songs that have shaped and inspired her through my Songs Behind feature.
Your debut EP 'Indigo, Vibrant and New' came out this summer and you have just wrapped a sold out headline tour. How does the year feel to you looking back on it?
"It feels like a blur of music and chaos."
New single ‘It’s Pixie’ feels like a slight sonic shift compared to what came before. How did you find the balance between pushing into new territory whilst still staying true to your sound?
"‘It’s Pixie’ was written and produced before any of the music in the previous EP. It feels like a prequel."
With this sonic shift has also come a rawer lyricism. How difficult do you find writing songs in this style, or is there an almost therapeutic nature to it?
"I think it’s far easier. This song was incredibly easy to write. It was exactly how I was feeling. Written in those exact words."
The title itself having your name in it really strikes home the personal message of the song. Where did that idea come from?
"I had been calling the song 'anyone for ages and it felt so generic. I think the title ultimately came out of pettiness - I want the person who forgot my middle name. To remember my middle name."
You are now heading out on tour with Paris Paloma across the UK and Europe. What are you most excited for when bringing your music to these audiences?
"I’m just so excited to meet Paris’s fans! I have heard such incredible things. It’s such a welcoming and beautiful community and I cannot wait to be involved :)"
